ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, in partnership with state Sen. Meg Loughran Cappel, D-Shorewood, will host a Community Shred Day on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will take place in the parking lot behind the Joliet District 86 administration building located at 420 North Raynor Ave. in Joliet.

“Shredding documents with personally identifiable information on them is a great way to prevent identity theft while clearing out clutter from your home,” said Manley. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to safely and securely discard their unwanted papers.”

Shred Day is an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of documents with personal information on them that could make them targets for identity theft, like medical records or bank statements. Event attendees are asked to follow the posted signs and enter and exit the event on Taylor Street to keep the flow of traffic safe and efficient.

“Those who have been the victims of identity theft can tell you it’s nothing short of a nightmare. The safe destruction of documents is a way to prevent that,” Manley said. “I’d like to thank Joliet District 86 and Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse for allowing us to set up in their parking lot so that the community can take advantage of this free service.”

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Manley’s office at [email protected] or call (815) 725-2741.
