Morton Grove Police File Charges for Bomb and Violence Threats from Joint Investigation

Morton Grove, IL – The Morton Grove Police Department charged Jacob Spiro as a result of a joint multi-jurisdictional, bomb and violence, threat investigation.

The Morton Grove Department received 12 bomb and violence threats from September to October of this year targeting the Village of Morton Grove, the Morton Grove Public Library, and local businesses. Additionally, Skokie, Niles, Wilmette, Glenview, and Northbrook Police Departments had bomb and violence threats during the same time frame. None of these threats were found to be credible during this investigation.

On Monday, October 9, 2023, the Niles Police Department, with the assistance of the Morton Grove Police Department and the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force, took Spiro into custody at 8309 W. Golf Road, Niles, IL as a result of this investigation.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved two felony charges for Disorderly Conduct for the Morton Grove incidents.

Additional charges may be filed in the future.

On October 11, 2023, Spiro is scheduled to make an appearance for a Pre-Trial Release Hearing.

The public is reminded that neither a complaint nor an indictment is evidence of guilt and all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
