DOWNERS GROVE NORTH 8 GLENBARD WEST 1

The Trojans (5-4, 2-4) went above the .500 mark for the first time this season, behind a four-hitter from junior RHP Mike Gorman. The Glenbard West run was unearned. Gorman (1-1) struck out seven Hilltoppers (5-7, 2-6) with two walks.

Trojan seniors Dave Marshall, Lucas Nielsen, and Matt Schellbach all had two hits and drove home a Trojans run. Marshall and Schellbach each had doubles and sophomore Sean Ryniec hammered his second home run of the season.

EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC

MARIST 13 NOTRE DAME 9 GAME ONE

The Dons (4-8, 2-3) led this one 9-4 after four innings and 9-8 after six innings before the ESCC leaders from Marist (11-2,5-0) exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Luke Burgos led the ND attack with three hits, including a double and drove home five Don runs. Hank Friedrich added a pair of singles and two RBI. Nick Giamarusti, chipped in with a single and an RBI.

MARIST 16 NOTRE DAME 0 (FIVE INNINGS) GAME 2

The Dons (4-9, 2-4) were able to get only two hits in the nightcap against the ESCC leading Redhawks (12-2, 6-0). Luke Burgos had a double and Joey Cullen chipped in with a single for the Dons.

ST VIATOR 5 BENET ACADEMY 3 GAME ONE

Trailing 5-1, the Redwings (2-4, 0-1) rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh before falling 5-3 to the Lions (8-4, 4-1). Sophomore Luke Bafia singled and drove home a Redwings run. Junior Pete Messina chipped in with a double for the 'Wings.

BENET ACADEMY 8 ST VIATOR 6 GAME TWO

Trailing 6-3, the Redwings (3-4, 1-1) erupted for five runs in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-6 Benet lead. Junior RHP Matt Nelson retired the Lions (8-5, 4-2) in the top of the seventh to nail down the save for winning RHP Steve Dabrowski.

In the big five-run Redwings sixth inning, junior Pete Messina ripped a two-run double to right scoring senior Giancaro Hall and Dabrowski to pull the 'Wings within 6-5. Senior Ryan Radek doubled to left scoring Dabrowski and the game was tied at 6-6.

Junior pinch-hitter Max Babich crushed a two-run bomb over the right field fence for an 8-6 Redwings lead.

CENTRAL SUBURBAN CROSSOVERS

NILES WEST 15 HIGHLAND PARK 5 (SIX INNINGS)

The Wolves (9-3, 2-2 South) were led by junior Alex Cherian who had a perfect day at the plate with a single, double, two walks and three RBI. Senior Kyle Gibson had a single and also drove home three Wolf runs.

NONCONFERENCE

NILES WEST 15 HIGHLAND PARK 14

In the nonconference game, the Wolves (10-3) won in walk-off fashion on a Jack Butera hit by pitch with the bases loaded scoring Kyle Gibson with the Wolves winner.

Trailing 14-10 in the bottom of the seventh, Alex Cherian had an RBI single to bring the Wolves within 14-11. Kyle Gibson ripped a two-RBI single that scored three runs to tie the game at 14-14 when Highland Park (4-7) made two errors on the play.

Gibson led the Wolves with three singles, a double and drive home five Wolf runs. Senior Kevin Plach went 3-for-3 for the Wolves with a double, scored three runs and drove one home.

DEERFIELD 11 MAINE SOUTH 5

The Hawks (5-8, 1-3 South) were led by senior Timmy O'Brien, who had a single, double, triple and drove home three Hawk runs. Junior Matt Randazzo had a single, double and an RBI for the Hawks.

MAINE SOUTH 18 DEERFIELD 7 (FIVE INNINGS)

Timmy O'Brien and Matt Randazzo led the Hawks (6-8,1-3 South) to the nonconference victory. O'Brien had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate with a homer, two triples and a single, to go with with four RBI and four runs scored. Randazzo settled for a double, triple and drove home two Hawk runs.

NEW TRIER 14 MAINE EAST 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Blue Demons (3-5, 2-2 North) could only get three hits against the Trevians (6-5, 2-2 South). Senior Christian Liboy had a perfect day at the plate for the Demons with two singles. Junior Alex Isho chipped in with a single.

BROTHER RICE 15 PLAINFIELD EAST 4 (SIX INNINGS)

Brother Rice (10-4) scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the nonconference affair in Mt. Greenwood. Bengal junior Jacob Eason homered and drove in two runs for the Bengals (4-5). Junior Jake Denton chipped in with a pair of singles for the Bengals.

LISLE 9 WESTMONT 2

In another edition of The Old Plank Road rivalry between the Lions and the Sentinels, Lisle (1-5) picked up its first win of the season. Leading 3-2 in the top of the seventh, the Lions exploded for six runs to roll to the victory. The Lions were led by their starting and winning pitcher junior Nick Jachim.

At the plate Jachim had two singles, a double and a triple, falling a home run short of hitting for the cycle and drove home a Lion run. On the mound, Jachim allowed one earned run and five hits in his six innings of work. Jachim struck out eight Sentinel hitters. Senior Joe Raineri added two singles and an RBI for the Lions.

Westmont (2-12) junior James Postawa doubled and drove home a Sentinel run, while junior Jason Czaplewski singled and scored a Sentinel run.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE CROSSOVERS

PLAINFIELD SOUTH 10 MINOOKA 5

In a battle of SPC divison leaders, the SPC East leading Cougars (6-0, 3-0 East) rallied past the SPC West leaders from Minooka (6-4, 3-0 West).

With the Indians leading 4-3 after four innings, the Cougars scored one run in the fifth, two more in the sixth and blow the game open with a four-run seventh inning.

In the Cougar fifth, senior Cooper Schmid (1-for 4,RBI) singled home junior Matt Kelliher (2-for-4, R), who had doubled, to tie the game at 4-4. In the Cougars sixth, an RBI double from senior Tylor Phommachanhom (2-for-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI) drove home senior Jeremy McGuigan (3-for-4, 3R), who reached base on a single, to give the Cougs' a 5-4 lead they would never relinquish.

Senior Riley Jepsen had three hits for South, including a double, with two RBI. Senior RHP Jackson Krieger (1-0) picked up the win on the mound with one scoreless inning in relief of Cougars starting pitcher Matt Kelliher.

For the Indians, senior Nick Gehrke had a single and drove home two Indian runs, while senior Joey Gould had two singles and an RBI. Junior Ivan Dahlberg continued his hot hitting with a pair of singles.

PLAINFIELD NORTH 16 JOLIET CENTRAL 6 (six innings)

The Tigers (7-1, 2-1 West) scored nine runs in the first inning to open up a 9-0 lead. The Steelmen(1-9, 0-3 East) exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth to close to within 9-6. The Tigers answered with four in the bottom of the fourth to put the Steelmen away.

Senior Brandon Bak had a pair of doubles for the Tigers and an RBI. Sophomore Ryan Nelson drove home two Tiger runs with a single. Noah Dutler chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

The Steelmen were led by their red-hot junior Gabe Dunne, who had two singles and drove home a run.

Junior Alex Rocha, senior Steve Bakalar, senior Rafael Gutierrez and senior Adam Hoehn-Aguilera all had singles and drove home Steelmen runs.

JOLIET WEST 12 OSWEGO 0 (five innings)

The SPC East co-leading Tigers (6-5, 3-0 East) won their fourth consecutive game behind a combined four-hit shutout from sophomore Connor Hogan (3-0) and junior George Limacher. Hogan allowed three hits in his two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Limacher finished off the Panthers (6-3, 1-2 West) with three scoreless innings allowing one hit with three strikeouts to nail down the save.

The Tigers were led by senior Camden Karczewski, who had a perfect day at the plate with two singles, a double, a base on balls and drove home a Tiger run. Karczewski is now hitting .486 on the season with eight RBI. Senior Lucas Coyl doubled and drove home a pair of Tiger runs, while senior Matt Stariha singled and had two RBI.

YORKVILLE 15 ROMEOVILLE 4 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Spartans (3-8, 0-3 East) scored three runs in the top of the first inning. The Foxes (9-2, 2-1 West) answered with seven in the bottom of the first and never looked back.

Spartan junior Jaden Holgado doubled home a run and Dylan Scafuri added a single and an RBI for the 'Ville.
