This was a scoreless game through four innings before Joliet West tallied two runs in the fifth and sixth.

Makena O’Donnell was the starting pitcher for Plainfield Central and went 5 1/3 innings, scattering eight hits. She was charged with one run, struck out three and walked none.

Kaia Garnica was 1-for-3 for the Wildcats.

Boys Volleyball

Lockport (4-1, 3-0) defeated Sandburg 25-21, 25-15 in a SWSC match at Lockport.

The Porters were led by Carter Steffgen (6 kills, 2 aces), Matt Arens (5 kills, 2 blocks), Braeden Goebbert (5 kills) and Evan Dziadkowiec (11 assists).

For the Wolves Noah Mazza was 4-6 with 4 RBI, including his third home run of the season, while Michael Kennedy was 4-6 with a double and RBI.
