On Wednesday, March 25, District 99 donated a variety of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) supplies to Good Samaritan Hospital. The supplies were taken from reserves of the custodial and science departments at Downers Grove North High School and Downers Grove South High School.

“We realized that everyday items in our reserves would be valuable on the front line, and reached out to our local partner Good Samaritan Hospital to arrange to donate the items,” said Dr. Hank Thiele, superintendent of District 99. “All of us respect and appreciate our local health care workers and the difficult work they are performing to keep us safe and strong through this crisis.”

District 99 staff transported, 30 cases, or 30,000 nitrile gloves, four face respirators with 11 packages of OV/P100 cartridges, a supply of indirect vented goggles in our science departments and six tyvek suits.

“We are so grateful to Community High School District 99 for this generous gesture,” Jaimie Oh, regional manager at Advocate Health Care said in a statement. “Our team members at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital are the heroes on the front lines of this nationwide effort to stem the spread of COVID-19, and every act of kindness and generosity does so much to keep their spirits up.”
