In a statement from the Illinois High School Association and Hinsdale South High School, the sectional game between Benet Academy and Hinsdale South has been postponed.

“Due to a potential student health emergency at Hinsdale South, the IHSA Class 3A Boys Basketball Sectional that is scheduled to be hosted by the school will be delayed by one day," the statement read. "The sectional semifinal between Benet Academy and Hinsdale South scheduled for March 11 will now be played on March 12 at 7 p.m. The sectional final will be moved from Friday, March 13 to Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m.”

In a statement issued to the community around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, attributed to Superintendent Tammy Prentiss, District 86 confirmed the game was indeed postponed because of coronavirus.

"We learned late in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 11 that a student from Hinsdale South may have been exposed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)," the district's statement read. "At this time, the family is still waiting to get the results of the test for their child. While we hope to have an update regarding this situation soon, we will make a final decision about the status of school by no later than 5 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday)."

It is unclear at this time what the status of the game will be if Hinsdale South is cancelled on Thursday.

This story will continue to be updated as it develops.
