Raiders defeat Porters to stay in SWSC Blue race with H-F

Plainfield North makes Neuqua Valley 11th consecutive victim

Bolingbrook (24-5, 5-1) pulled back to within one full game nof the Southwest Suburban Blue leaders from H-F (22-3, 6-0) with the 72-54 win over Lockport (12-16, 1-5) at the 'Brook.

Plainfield North (19-7) traveled to Neuqua Valley (21-8) in Naperville in a nonconference game with IHSA Class 4A Lockport Sectional seeding implications for both teams.

The two teams battled for 32 minutes to a 55-55 deadlock in regulation. The overtime was all Tigers.

Outscoring their hosts from Neuqua Valley 17-6 in the overtime, North rolled to the 72-61 victory.

Five Tigers had double-digit games, led by senior Cooper Bridges who scored 16 points and hauled down nine rebounds. Seniors Colin O'Rourke and Blake Ellinghaus each tallied 14 points, while junior Carlos Conley added 11 points. Senior Kyle Bragg chipped in with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, for the Tigers.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE CROSSOVERS

Plainfield Central 54 (14-11, 7-6 East) Oswego 53 (18-8, 8-5 West)

The Wildcats (15-11, 8-6 East) traveled to Oswego (18-9, 8-6) and hung on for the huge, SPC crossover victory on Tuesday. Kam Flowers and Brandan Shoemaker led the 'Cats to the win.

Leading 51-50 late in the fourth quarter, Shoemaker stole the ball from the befuddled Panther guard and go in for a rim-rattling slam dunk for a 53-50 Wildcat lead.

WEST SUBURBAN GOLD

Downers Grove South 46 Leyden 43

The Mustangs traveled to Frankin Park and picked up the huge WSC Gold road victory over the Eagles (13-13,3-8). With the win, the Mustangs conclude their WSC Gold mark at 6-6. They are 8-18 overall.

WEST SUBURBAN SILVER

Downers Grove North 47 Hinsdale Central 45

Trailing their arch-rivals from Hinsdale Central 45-44 with 25 seconds remaining in regulation, Trojan junior Jack Mielke (21 points, six 3's) stuck a dagger in the hearts of the Red Devil faithful in Hinsdale.

Having dropped five, three-point bombs on the Devils, Mielke's sixth gave the Trojans the heart-stopping two-point victory. Justin Japlon, scored 10 points for the Trojans and Eli Carter, buried a pair of 3's and chipped in with eight points, for DGN (13-14, 6-5) .

METRO SUBURBAN RED

Westmont 48 Elmwood Park 45

The Sentinels (12-18, 4-7) picked up the win in Westmont. The Sentinels jumped out to a 16-9 lead after one quarter. Westmont took a 27-21 lead into the break. Elmwood Park (14-10, 6-5) closed to within 37-34 after three quarters and the Sentinels held off the Tigers in the fourth quarter for the win.

NONCONFERENCE

Joliet Catholic 55 Coal City 37

The Hilltoppers(11-18) jumped out to a 25-9 lead after one quarter and never looked back on senior night in Joliet. Coal City (17-11) pulled to within 45-32 after three quarters but the Hilltoppers blitzed the Coalers in the fourth quarter for the 18-point victory.
