Plainfield North hits 20 wins

Maine South wins 17th for 12th-consecutive season

The Tigers traveled to Yorkville (12-17, 4-12) and defeated the Foxes for their 20th victory of the season.

For Plainfield North coach Bob Krahulik, this season's 20-win campaign is the Tigers' first 20-win season since 2014-15.

In 2013-14, Krahulik's first year at the helm of the Tigers, Plainfield North finished 21-8.

The Tigers, in a defensive first-half, led only 18-17. The Tigers scored 18 points in the third quarter to break away from the Foxes 36-24.

Three Tigers hit double-figures, led by seniors Kyle Bragg and Blake Ellinghaus with 11 points apiece.

Six-foot-8 Colin O'Rourke picked up a double-double on the night with 10 points and 11 boards. Ellinghaus grabbed five rebounds for the Tigers (20-8,11-5).


Up next for the Tigers is a IHSA Class 4A Lincoln-Way West Regional Semifinal at 7 p.m., on Tuesday night, March 3. The Tigers will take on the winner from Monday March 2, regional play-in game between Joliet Central (12-19) and the regional hosts from Lincoln-Way West (3-25).

CENTRAL SUBURBAN LEAGUE CROSSOVER

For the 12th consecutive year with the CSL crossover victory over Maine District 207 rival Maine West (12-16), Maine South (17-14), has won at least 17 games.

For Maine South head coach Tony Lavorato, Jr., the victory was No. 320 in his highly-successful 17-years at the helm of the Maine South varsity boys basketball program.

The Hawks were led again by their 6-foot-5 junior Marko Anderson who just missed a double-double scoring 17 points and hauling down eight rebounds. Senior Sean Gallery also scored a game-high 17 points for the Hawks. Senior Casey Clark chipped in with 13 points.

Up next for the Hawks will be their IHSA Class 4A Loyola Academy Regional semifinal on Wednesday March 3 at 7 with Chicago Schurz (19-10). On January 20 at the Maine South MLK Shootout, the Hawks crushed the CPS White North champions from Schurz 86-61.
