Steelwomen rout Romeoville to set up big game on Tuesday night at Joliet West

Winning for the 22nd time in 23 games, Joliet Central (25-4, 13-2) received a battle in the first half from Romeoville (7-21, 2-13) before exploding for a 55-29 Southwest Prairie East victory.

With the SPC East win, the big game is all set up for Tuesday night on Joliet's West Side between the SPC East leaders from West (26-3, 14-1) and the Steelwomen at 6:30 p.m. The host Tigers have won 21 consecutive games since losing to Central on Dec. 9, 47-44 at Joliet Central.

Behind nine, first half points, from Lindsay Novak, the Spartans trailed only 18-16 at the half.

A 21-7 Steelwomen run in the third quarter put the game away.

The Steelwomen were led by 13 points from Ashanti Brown and A'llasha Alexander. Kameryn Tillman chipped in with 10 points. Novak led the Spartans with 11 points.

Tuesday night's game will be broadcast live on WJOL AM-1340.

WEST SUBURBAN SILVER

The Trojans (24-6, 9-3) took care of business Friday night, rolling past the Hilltoppers (17-10, 8-4). The Trojans finished in a second-place tie in the WSC Silver with Lyons Township (16-9, 9-3).

If the Trojans win the IHSA Class 4A Hinsdale Central Regional on February 21 and Lyons Township wins the IHSA Class 4A Reavis Regional on Feb. 20, the two WSC Silver foes would meet for a third time this season.

On December 14, the Lions beat the Trojans 44-42 and then again on January 14 in La Grange, the Lions won 40-34 in OT.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE EAST

Plainfield South 50 Plainfield Central 32

The Cougars (14-12, 9-6) rolled past the Wildcats (12-18, 6-8) at South on Friday. The two squads will open up their IHSA Class 4A Benet Academy Sectional play against one and other at the Metea Valley Regional. The Plainfield District 202 rivals will play on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30, following the Bolingbrook-Metea Valley game at 6.
