Tigers nip GCAC White co-leading Celtics in OT for 18th consecutive win

Lisle Girls clinch IC-8 championship tie

Joliet West girls' 18th-consecutive victory did not come easy.

The Girls Catholic Athletic Conference White Division co-leaders, Providence Catholic (20-7), were in town and the Tigers (21-3) needed an extra four minutes to extend the streak to 18-games. West was prevailed for a heart-wrenching 50-47 victory.

The Tigers were led by senior Jazz Evans (16.9 points-per-game), sophomore Grace Walsh (10.9 points-per-game) and their freshman Lisa Thompson (15.9 points-per-game).

The Tigers (21-3, 10-1) have not lost since a 47-44 Southwest Prairie East loss to their rivals from Joliet Central (22-4, 9-2) at Central on December 9.

The two arch-rivals will meet at West on Tuesday February 11.

The Lions (22-5, 12-0) opened up a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and went on to romp past the last-place Panthers (5-22, 0-12) on Monday. With the win, Lisle clinches at least a share of the inaugural IC-8 championship.

Second place Reed-Custer (18-9, 10-2) won at Peotone (18-7, 8-3) to take over sole possession of second place.

The Lions can wrap up the outright IC-8 title with a win at Reed-Custer on Thursday.
