Plainfield Central gives Steelwomen a scare; 17 in a row for West Tigers versus Plainfield South

Brook rolls, Hawks win 10th straight

At The Old Barn at Joliet Central High School, Plainfield Central (11-15, 5-6) coach Armond Frazier and his Wildcats got off the bus and went out to shock the world in an SPC East game in Joliet. Trailing 10-7 in the closing minutes of the first quarter, the Wildcats closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run and grab a 13-10 lead after one quarter on sophomore Tykara Harrison's hoop.

Joliet Central (22-4, 11-2) coach Laura Brumfiel turned up the Steelwomen's suffocating defense and Joliet Central held the 'Cats to just four second quarter points and lead 23-17 at the break.

Holding Plainfield Central to just seven third quarter points, the Steelwomen increased their lead to 36-24 after three quarters and rolled to the 46-33 win.

Jalysa Stokes led the Steelwomen with 13 points, followed by 11 from Ashanti Brown. A'llasha Alexander chipped in with 9 points.

Kachae Donald led the Wildcats with 10 points, while Harrison chipped in with six points.

The Tigers (22-3, 11-1) win for the 17th consecutive time with the win over the Cougars (12-10, 7-5)

The Lady Raiders (17-6, 4-1) traveled to Frankfort and hammered the last-place Griffins (13-11, 0-5).

The Hawks (21-5) go on the road to Villa Park and come away with their 10th consecutive win over their hosts from Willowbrook (13-12).

The Wolves (7-16) pick up the nonconference win in Skokie over the Rams (16-7).
