DGN Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony set for Jan. 11

Jack Brady, Gabrielle Sims and Madeline Sims all to be honored at Hall of Fame event

Downers Grove North High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducting three new members into its prestigious group this upcoming weekend.

At 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Downers Grove North in the Purple Gym before the boy's varsity basketball game, Jack Brady, Gabrielle Sims and Madeline Sims will all be forever enshrined into Downers Grove North.

"This event happens every year," said Athletic Director Denise Kavanaugh. "Downers Grove North takes a lot of pride in our students and student-athletes."

Brady, who is the class of 2006, was a star on the football team as well as in track and field.

Brady was a part of the IHSA 8A Football Championship Team in 2004, was All-Conference in 2005 for football, placed seventh in the IHSA state track shot put in 2005 and placed eighth in the IHSA state track discus in 2006.

"Brady was an all around great guy who was a multi-talented athlete in his time there," Kavanaugh said.

The Sims twins, Gabrielle and Madeline, are part of their family tradition where now all four members of the family is in the Downers Grove North High Athletic Hall of Fame.

Burke Sims and Haley Sims were both inducted in 2016.

Gabrielle, was the class of 2014 and was very accomplished in swimming.

Gabrielle was a seven time IHSA state champion, including four state championships in 2013, won 16 medals at the IHSA state meet between 2010 and 2013 and was voted as the Illinois High School Swimmer of the Year in 2013.

Madeline, was also in the class of 2014 and just like her sister, was very successful in swimming.

Madeline was a three time IHSA State Champion, won 11 total medals between 2010 and 2013 and was a 16-time Sectional Medalist including 13-time sectional champion.
