Maine South second, Benet Academy third and Bolingbrook fifth in Holiday Tourney play

In the final day of holiday tournament play for our area girls' hoops teams, three additional trophies were won.

Maine South finished second at Dundee-Crown's Charger Classic in Algonquin and Benet Academy took home third place at Montini. Bolingbrook won three games at Montini to finish in fifth place.

Maine West 45 Maine South 36

In Dundee-Crown's Charger Classic Championship Game, the Hawks (11-5) trailed the defending Charger Classic and defending IHSA State Champions from Maine West 21-10 at halftime. The Warriors (14-1) extended their lead to 32-20 after three quarters.

The Hawks made a furious run to get within 41-34 with a minute remaining.

MONTINI

Benet Academy 57 Montini 55

In a battle most people thought would have been played in the Montini Christmas Tournament championship

game, the Redwings slipped past the Lady Broncos n the third-place game.

Bolingbrook 61 Lyons Township 43

The Lady Raiders (7-5) cruised past the Lions (7-7) to bring home the fifth place trophy back to Bolingbrook.
