WHEELING HARDWOOD CLASSIC

Jumping out to a 25-7 first quarter lead in its 2019 Wheeling Hardwood Classic first-round game versus Mather, Notre Dame head coach Kevin Clancy was getting ready for the entire Dons roster to get playing time. Still without standout guard Anthony Sayles, the Dons (11-2) would romp past Mather 76-28.

Six-foot-6 Louis Lesmon led the Dons with 25 points and hauled down four rebounds. Junior Troy D'Amico converted on 14 of his 15 free throws for his 18 points and Jason Bergstrom would chip in with 13 points.

Homewood-Floosmoor 51 Maine South 39

Looking to shock the world in the 2019 Hinsdale Central Holiday Tournament, Maine South grabbed a 16-12 lead over the state-ranked Vikings of Homewood-Flossmoor (8-1). Maine South's Casey Clark put on a three-point clinic in the first quarter, draining four long-range bombs for the Hawks.

Behind Clark's 14 first-half points, Maine South (4-5) led 24-23 at the half.

The Hawks hung tough with the Vikings in the third quarter. Marko Anderson's (five points) bucket gave the Hawks their last lead at 29-25 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. H-F would close out the third quarter on a 12-2 run to open up a 37-31 lead.

Nick Ostojic's (four points) bucket brought the Hawks to within 39-33 with five minutes remaining. H-F would close out the game on a 12-6 run to finish off the valiant Hawks.
