Illinois State Sen. Patrick Joyce is kicking off the new year by inviting constituents in the 40th Senate District to visit the new headquarters for his campaign to represent them.

Sen. Joyce, D-Essex, will have community members, campaign supporters and volunteers at the grand opening ceremony for his campaign office, at 15 Meadowview Square in Kankakee, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Sen. Joyce was appointed to the 40th District seat in November after former Sen. Toi Hutchinson retired to take a job in the Pritzker administration. He faces several opponents in the March 17 Democratic primary election.

The 40th Senate District includes most of Kankakee County; parts of Will County including Manhattan, New Lenox and Frankfort; Rich and Bloom Townships in Cook County; and several Grundy County communities.

The senator will discuss his priorities for the office with those attending the event, learn about volunteer opportunities and enjoy light refreshments.

“This is an exciting time for me to celebrate the opening of my campaign office and welcome the good people of the 40th District to learn more about me and my vision for our district and our state in Springfield,” Joyce said. “I look forward to spending the next few weeks walking door-to-door throughout the district to share my vision and listen to their concerns. We’re all in this together to create a better Illinois, for today and tomorrow.”
