Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) announced that Catholic Charities of the Dioceses of Joliet will receive an award from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the amount of $3,495,458. The funding will be provided through the HHS's Head Start and Early Head Start Office.

"Investing in our future means investing in early childhood education," said Congressman Foster. "I am pleased to announce this 3.5 million dollar award from the Department of Health and Human Services. These programs give the children of Joliet the access to educational resources necessary early in their lives. As the Trump Administration continues to threaten essential early childhood education programs like these, organizations like Catholic Charities are stepping up to educate the next generation of Americans."

Catholic Charities of Joliet's Head Start initiatives provide educational opportunities and daycare programs for children up to five years-old from low-income families. Children participate in developmentally and educationally appropriate activities; receive medical and dental care; have healthy meals and snacks; and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.
