Police Department Partners with Ring App to Improve Neighborhood Safety

The Police Department has joined the free Neighbors app by Ring to provide residents with real-time, local, crime and safety information. The Neighbors network has millions of users nationwide and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe.

Neighbors is a free app that anyone can use, even if they do not own a Ring device. Once the app is downloaded, residents can join their neighborhood and use the app to monitor neighborhood activity, share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts, and receive safety alerts. For more information or to download the app, visit ring.com and click on the Neighbors App.

Like other social media sharing platforms, law enforcement participation on the Neighbors app is not meant to replace 911. If residents see a crime occur they are encouraged to immediately report the incident.

Make Sure Plainfield Counts

It’s that time again; the U.S. Census Bureau will be conducting population counts next year. Census Day is April 1 and for the first time residents will be able to respond online or by phone, in addition to the mail-in option provided in previous years.

It is important for residents to respond in order to ensure our area is accurately represented and receives its fair share of federal funding that is used for social service programs, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.

Watch your mail in March for more information on how to complete your Census form. Remember, your responses are confidential, secure, and protected.
