About the Organization

Operation Christmas: Bolingbrook is a non profit organization that has been in operation under the Community Service Council. Projects involve many volunteers from Bolingbrook and the surrounding areas, and takes an exceptional effort each year to ensure that each struggling family during the Christmas season receives the assistance they so greatly need. I

n 2016 alone, they served over 420 families within Bolingbrook, with every donation coming from their local businesses, community groups, and individual families.

“We believe that giving within our community will ultimately build a stronger and more sustainable community in return,” says the organization.

How It Works

Families in need begin calling Operation Christmas to make an appointment starting the Monday after Thanksgiving. Upon calling, they schedule an appointment for a member of the family to come in to go through our available items.

In the past, each family has received two large grocery bags to select groceries from the selection of donated food items. They then have had the opportunity to go through all of their gently used clothing, shoes, toys, books, and household items.

Each family has also received two new gifts and stocking stuffers for each child in the family, and a $10 gift certificate towards a ham or turkey for their Christmas dinner.
