Executive Assistant – Office of the Chief of Police

The Plainfield Police Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Executive Assistant. Supporting our Chief of Police and Command Staff, this individual will direct and coordinate the activities of the Executive Division, supervise Custodians, and maintain budget and facility management. The Executive Assistant also handles concerns/issues of employees, and ensures personnel documentation is maintained in accordance with Department, Village, and regulatory agency requirements. Special assignments and community relations projects are a common responsibility.

Required: Must possess a B.A. degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent years of training and experience; Valid Illinois Driver’s License; Related experience and training desired. Advanced knowledge of law enforcement administration, and facility management is preferred, as is the ability to prepare related reports, analyses, policies, and budgets. Ability to interact effectively in a stressful environment and act quickly and calmly in emergencies.

Part-Time Clerical Assistant

The Village of Plainfield is seeking applicants for a part-time Clerical Assistant position. Supporting our Management Services and Administration Departments, this individual will perform a variety of clerical functions, greet the public, answer incoming calls, and collect/record cash and credit payments.

Required: A one-year certification from a college or technical school; or HS Diploma with 3-6 months of related experience/training; basic keyboarding and math skills; and proficiency with internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software. Accounting and database software proficiency strongly preferred.

Crossing Guard

The Plainfield Police Department is currently seeking a part-time crossing guard. The selected candidate will be responsible for guarding street crossings during hours when children are going to and coming from school. Hours would be Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. during school days. Required: Applicant must be 18 years of age or older. Water Service Worker

The Village of Plainfield is seeking applicants for a full-time Water Service Worker position. Supporting our Public Works Department, this individual will perform a variety of maintenance and customer service duties within the Water Division and will also perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position receives general supervision from the Crew Leader and Water Superintendent

Required: A one-year certification from a college or technical school; or HS Diploma with 3-6 months of related experience/training. Must have knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and water meter fixtures and operation; appropriate techniques of handling a variety of hazardous materials and chemicals; basic principles of record-keeping; various construction techniques and equipment associated with water distribution; procedures used in water sampling; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations; operational aspects of wells, pumps, reservoirs and associated electrical controls; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment; safe work practices and basic principles of mathematics.
