On Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m., a Pedestrian Safety Presentation will take place in the auditorium at Downers Grove North High School, located at 4436 Main Street in Downers Grove, Illinois.
Last spring, District 99 and the Village began reviewing ways to improve pedestrian safety near both North High and Downers Grove South High School. The presentation will include an overview of the process used to gather information and feedback about the roadways surrounding the high schools, recommendations from pedestrian safety consultants, and an opportunity to provide feedback.
"The consultant has gathered feedback from hundreds of comments submitted online by the community, as well as from a community forum that was held on September 5," says Dr. Hank Thiele, superintendent of District 99. "We are looking forward to sharing the safety enhancement ideas brought forth by the consultant, and will continue to ask for feedback as we look to implement solutions."
"The partnership project with District 99 is proceeding well and we've received many great ideas and suggestions," said Village Manager Dave Fieldman. "I encourage everyone to attend the meeting to review and discuss the preliminary recommendations."
A video of the presentation and feedback forms will be provided on the District 99 website shortly following the event.
