Carl Sandburg students honor veterans

Over 375 Carl Sandburg Elementary School students in Kindergarten through fifth grade
celebrated Veterans Day during a school assembly. The students recognized 15 parents,
grandparents, relatives, and even a staff member for their service at the event. The honored guests
entered the gymnasium through a tunnel of cheers and colorful pompons from the Sandburg
cheerleaders for the all school assembly. Representatives from the Air Force, Army, Marines, and
Navy were present. The veterans were treated to music, poems, tributes, and gift from the
elementary students to thank them for their service.
