Center of concern continues the Global #GivingTuesday Movement
The Center of Concern's Adopt-an Older Adult Program launches on
#GivingTuesday, a global day of giving this December 3rd. #GivingTuesday harnesses the collective power
of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity
worldwide. The Adopt-an-Older Adult Program and #GivingTuesday are held on the Tuesday after
Thanksgiving to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local
communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Adopt-an-Older Adult on or before #GivingTuesday, December 3 and help us combat loneliness and isolation
of our communities' older adults. With social contacts steadily decreasing with age, the effects of isolation can
be devastating. By adopting-an-older adult, your gift will be delivered by a sensitive and caring Center of
Concern Friendly Visitor bringing a smile and a beautiful holiday plant to be enjoyed throughout the holiday
season.
You can adopt-an-older adult anytime during the month of November through #GivingTuesday, December
3rd.
We are pleased to announce that The Retirement Research Foundation will match individual donations to the
Center's Adopt-an-Older Adult #GivingTuesday program. Donations will be matched 1:1 (up to $5,000).
According to John McNabola, Executive Director of the Center of Concern, "with two-thirds of Older Adults in
suburban Maine Township living alone and increasing numbers of retired adults without family members to
assist them, the Center of Concern's case managers and volunteers deliver services to effectively address
challenges related to aging. Lack of mobility, loss of friends and family along with heightened anxiety all
contribute to isolation which is a struggle for so many older adults".
