Oakton hosts early childhood/K-12 education and transfer fair Nov. 13

Do you have a desire to teach? Looking to meet potential educational employers? Oakton Community College has the answers as it is hosting an Early Childhood and K-12 Education Career and Transfer Fair 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the college's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, in Rooms 1606-1610 and on Student Street. The event is free and open to the public.

More than 40 early childhood education employers including child care programs, park districts, therapy providers and four-year college representatives will be on site.

"This is a golden opportunity for individuals interested in education from the ranks of early childhood to the high school level to learn more about this rewarding field and make valuable contacts with potential employers," Oakton Early Childhood Education Chair Paula Luszcz says. "We encourage people to bring lots of resumes with them to this networking event."

In addition to meeting with educational representatives, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a free film screening of "No Small Matter" from 9 a.m.-10:15 a.m., in Room 1608. The documentary and national engagement campaign examines the impact of high quality preschool education.

From 11-11:45 a.m., participants can attend a panel discussion, "Exploring Career Opportunities in Education-Related Fields," facilitated by Oakton's Early Childhood Education and K-12 Education programs.

"We're very excited to be hosting so many events during the day that the public can take advantage of to get closer to their career aspirations," Luszcz says.

No registration is required. For more information, contact Paula Luszcz at [email protected] or Katherine Schuster at [email protected].
