WEEK 8 RECAP: Minooka sets up game of undefeated teams with win

SPC WEST

Minooka 27 West Aurora 13

Minooka improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southwest Prairie West with the senior night victory over West Aurora (2-6, 0-4). Oswego (8-0, 4-0) ran past Yorkville 28-20, setting up an SPC West championship game at Oswego between the Indians and the Panthers Friday night.

Plainfield North 14 Oswego East 9

The playoff-bound Tigers (5-3, 2-2) traveled to Oswego and rolled past the Wolves (4-4, 0-4).

CCL/ESCC CROSSOVERS

Nazareth 21 Notre Dame

Without Dons’ leading rusher Julian Schurr, the CCL/ESCC Green leading Dons (7-1) fell 21-0 to the CCL/ESCC Orange leading Nazareth (7-1) in Niles.

Notre Dame entered the contest ranked No. 4 in Class 8A by the Associated Press. Nazareth sat in the No. 2 position in Class 7A.

The Hawks (6-2, 4-0) won for the sixth consecutive time and wrapped up a share of their 17th CSL South title in 18 years..

The Raiders lost a heartbreaker in Flossmoor Friday night

Joliet West 29 Plainfield South 13

The Tigers (3-5, 3-1) turned the SPC East into a three-way tie atop the conference with the win over the Cougars (4-4, 3-1). The Tigers, Cougars and Plainfield East share first-place with one game remaining Friday. A win from all three would force a tiebreaker, which is head to head points allowed - which is owned by Joliet West. In that case, a 4-5 West team would make the playoffs as the conference champion, while both Plainfield South and East would be 5-4 and hope to get in as at-large teams.

The Tigers travel to Plainfield Central (1-7, 1-3). The Cougars are home to Romeoville (1-7, 1-3) and Plainfield East will travel to Joliet Central (1-7, 1-3).

The Bengals (4-4, 3-1) moved into a three-way tie atop the SPC East with the romp past Romeoville (1-7, 1-3)

Joliet Central 10 Plainfield Central 7 (OT)

The Steelmen (1-7, 1-3) had to go overtime to pick up their first win of the season in Plainfield. Plainfield Central falls to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the SPC East.

WEST SUBURBAN GOLD

Downers Grove South 20 Leyden 3

The Mustangs (5-3, 4-2) continue to roil in WSC Gold after defeating Leyden (2-6, 2-3). District 99 Crosstown Classic with Downers Grove North (4-4) next Friday.

WEST SUBURBAN SILVER

Lyons Township 19 Downers Grove North 14

The Trojans (4-4, 2-4) were stunned by the Lions (4-4, 2-4); At DGS (5-3) next Friday for District #99 Crosstown Classic.

SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN CROSSOVER

Lockport 24 Andrew 7

The Porters (3-5, 2-3) hammered the SWSC Red champions from Andrew (6-2, 4-1).

CENTRAL SUBURBAN SOUTH

The Wolves (0-8, 0-4) were blasted by the Wildkits (3-5, 2-2) in Skokie

METRO SUBURBAN RED

St. Edward 42 Westmont 0

The Sentinels (2-6, 1-4) were blanked by the Green Wave (5-3, 4-1) at home in Westmont

ILLINOIS CENTRAL 8

Peotone 14, Lisle 12

The Lions (4-4, 2-4) fell to the Blue Devils (7-1, 5-1) in Kankakee County at Peotone Friday
