When Notre Dame takes on Montini this week, the Dons will head into the game with an unblemished 5-0 record against a schedule that no team in the state is envious of.

Most recently, the Dons defeated St. Patrick 14-0 in a game that spanned two sessions because of a weather postponement on Friday night.

On Friday, Notre Dame got its first score of the game when Julian Schurr banged in form two-yards out four minutes into the game.

On Saturday, Anthony Sayles found George Proesel from 10-yards away to give the Dons all the scoring on day two.

Notre Dame will play its second home game in a row this week when it welcomes in perennial state power Montini Catholic.

"They look loaded on film," Notre Dame coach Mike Hennessey said of the Broncos. "They have had a couple of good games with Mt. Carmel and St. Rita and they put up a lot of points last week against St. Viator."

In the 33-14 win over St. Viator, Montini trailed after three quarters, but scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to get the win.

The Broncos are paced by a ground attack that features Deontay Bell, who ran for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns last week and C.J. Bufkin (150 yards, 1 TD).

So far this season, Notre Dame's defense has been up to the challenge allowing only 8.4 points per game.

The Montini offense, on the other hand, Montini (4-1) has averaged 35 points per game.

"We just take it one game at a time," Hennessey said. "We have to play smart football and stay healthy. We want to play hard and we feel if we do what we need to do, we can go into the fourth quarter in a position to win the game."

The Dons are 5-0 for the first time since the 2013 season. Records by the Illinois High School Association date back to 1996 and in that time, Notre Dame did not go 6-0 in that time.

"It really doesn't concern us," Hennessey said. "It is nice to look back on the history and tradition, but we have been a good team the last few years that has made the playoffs and it is up to this group to write its own story."
