Romeoville Reveals New Ornament Tradition

The Village of Romeoville is starting a new holiday tradition... Annual Village Ornaments. The concept was inspired by the White House ornament collection, which was started by First Lady Nancy Reagan in 1981. The first ornament in this new series celebrates the municipal heart of the community - village hall. Every year, thousands of residents flock to the grounds around the 60 foot tower to take part in community events like concerts and festivals.

Now, residents can bring the municipal heart into their home. This brass ornament, finished in 24 karat gold, is roughly three and a half inches wide by two inches high. It is proudly made in America (by the same company who makes the White House ornaments) and comes in its own gold and burgundy box.

"This is a very elegant ornament. It has 3D elements to it and is extraordinarily detailed," described Mayor John Noak. "We are excited to start this new series and we hope this brings more joy to the holidays. We're already working up ideas for what next year's ornament will be."

Ornaments are now available for pre-sale and can be purchased in person or by phone for $15 by visiting or calling village hall (815-886-7200) or the recreation center (815-886-6222). Ornaments will arrive in late November and will need to be picked up. Shipping is currently not available. All proceeds from ornament sales will be put towards the holiday light display at village hall, which is free and open to public from December 2nd to January 1st.
