When you drive past the Romeoville Athletic & Event Center at 55 Phelps Avenue, you may notice a new amenity out front. In preparation for the 100th anniversary of Illinois Route 66, the Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors Bureau utilized grant money from the State of Illinois to purchase and distribute 12 Route 66 monument signs among communities along the historic roadway.

"Route 66 is famous all over the world and we are tremendously lucky that we can be a community situated along this legendary American attraction," said Mayor John Noak. "We are proud to display the Route 66 sign and thank the State of Illinois and the Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors Bureau for providing us with this marker."

The two foot high by 15 foot long sign is sure to show up in plenty of social media feeds and will serve as a reminder of Romeoville's special place along the Mother Road.
