PLAINFIELD SOUTH 10 AT Plainfield Central 5

The SPC East co-leading Cougars (7-0, 4-0) were trailing 3-2 when they exploded for six runs in the top of the third inning and roll to their seventh consecutive victory.

Junior Zander Tubbs (1-for-4, HR, 3RBI) launched a three-run bomb over the left field fence for a 5-3 Cougs' lead. Freshman Blake Phommachanhom's (2-for-4, 2RBI) two-run single extended the South lead to 7-3. South scored on a Wildcat miscue to make it 8-3 after two and a half innings.

The Wildcats (7-5, 1-3) were led by senior Nate Buchan, who hit his second home run of the season. Nate Sommerfeld doubled and drove home a Wildcat run. Josh Cunniff had a single and an RBI, while Nate Conrad chipped in with a pair of singles for Central.

JOLIET WEST 9 AT PLAINFIELD EAST 3

The Tigers (7-5, 4-0), kept pace with Plainfield South in the SPC East with the victory in Joliet. The Bengals (4-6, 2-2) scored three runs in the top of the first inning, to grab a 3-0 lead, before the Tigers would score the last nine runs of the contest.

Senior catcher Ty Batusich had a perfect day at the plate with his fifth home run of the season, a single, a double and drove home three Tiger runs. Lucas Coyl and Matt Staria each had a single and two ribbies for the Tigers. Josh Wokurka chipped in with two singles for West.

Tigers sophomore RHP Conner Hogan (4-0) fired a six-hitter at the Bengals with two earned runs with six strikeouts.

The Bengals were led by junior Jake Eason, who doubled and had an RBI. Senior Ryan Skiba had a single and drove home a Bengal run.

WEST SUBURBAN SILVER

DOWNERS GROVE 9 OAK PARK 8

The Trojans (6-4, 3-4) are on fire.

On Monday at the Friendly Confines of Legion Field, Oak Park (8-3, 7-3) scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase an 8-4 Trojans lead.

The Trojans, in the bottom of the seventh, got a little from their friends from Oak Park.

With one out, senior David Marshall ripped a double to left. Senior Luke Wilson ran for Marshall. Wilson went to third on a wild pitch. Wilson, the Trojan winning run, on third.

After the Huskies pitcher uncorked another wild one, Wilson danced home with the Trojans walk-off winner. Trojan fans were seen pouring onto Saratoga and into the courthouse parking lot for a post-game victory celebration.

Marshall singled doubled and drove home a pair of Trojan runs, while senior Angus Nemeth led the 11-hit Trojans attack with three singles and three RBIs. Sophomore Tony Konopiots chipped in with a single and two ribbies for the Trojans.

On Tuesday, on The South Side, another edition of the District 99 crosstown classic at 4:30 p.m. with the WSC Gold-leading Mustangs (10-1).

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE EAST

ROMEOVILLE 13 AT JOLIET CENTRAL 4

The Steelmen (1-10, 0-4) led 3-2 after an inning and a half before the Spartans (4-8, 1-3) scored five times in the bottom of the second and roll to their first SPC East victory.

Spartan junior Corey Boyette continued his torrid hitting. On Monday Boyette hit his first home run of the season,singled, doubled and had six RBI. Boyette fell a triple short of hitting for the cycle. Junior Nick Kolze singled, tripled and drove home two Spartan runs, while junior Jaden Holgado singled, doubled and had two RBI.

Steelmen junior Gabe Dunne continued his hot hitting with two singles and an RBI. Elias Esquivel hammered a pair of doubles for the Steelmen and drove home a JT run.

SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN CROSSOVER

LOCKPORT 12 LINCOLN-WAY WEST 7

The Porters (7-3) trailed this one 4-1 before exploding for four runs in the bottom of the third inning and roll to the SWSC crossover victory behind Porters junior Griffin Brown. Brown hit three homers out of historic Ed Flink Field and drove home five Lockport runs. Senior Riley Pfeiffer, after leading the successful Porters football team, also hammered a shot out of Flink. Connor Christian had three singles and an RBI while junior Matt Merk added a single and two ribbies.

WEST SUBURBAN GOLD

DG SOUTH 11 AT MORTON 4

The Mustangs (10-1, 9-1) crushed the Morton Mustangs (1-8, 1-5) behind Max Molinari, who had two singles and two RBI, while Maxx Palenik and Joe Consensa each drove home two Mustang runs. Consensa and Cole Warehime homered for DGS.

EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC

MARIST 12 AT BENET 2 (4 1/2 innings)

The Redwings (3-5, 1-2) ran into the ESCC leaders from Marist (13-2, 7-0) on Monday in Mt. Greenwood.

Senior Giancarlo Hall singled, doubled and drove home a Benet run. Junior Ryan Snell hit his first home run of the season for the 'Wings.

ILLINOIS CENTRAL 8

MANTENO 11 LISLE 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

Undefeated Manteno (11-0, 6-0) crushed the Lions (1-6, 0-5) down in Manteno. Nick Jachim had both Lions hits and Chris Farrell drove home the lone Lions run.

METRO SUBURBAN RED

AURORA CHRISTIAN 11 AT WESTMONT 1 (6 INNINGS)

The Sentinels (2-14, 0-7) were led by junior Jason Czaplewski, who singled and drove home the lone Sentinel run.

NONCONFERENCE

LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL 12 BOLINGBROOK 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Raiders (4-4) were hammered in their Southwest Suburban crossover game with the Knights. Connor Quigley singled and drove home the lone Raiders run. Jonny Carerra chipped in with a triple and scored the lone run for the 'Brook.

EVANSTON 4 NOTRE DAME 0

The Dons (4-10) could only muster three hits against the Wildkits (9-5). Matt Melendez doubled and Hank Friedrich and Hugh Keany each singled for the Dons.
