Two people were shot outside an apartment building in the Woodlands complex in Crest Hill, just after 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

Originally, Crest Hill, Bolingbrook, Joliet and other agencies wee on scene. The Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force arrived on the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and is assisting in the investigation.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said all of those involved appeared to be in their 20s.

As of press time, the victims were hospitalized and were not thought to have life-threatening injuries.

According to eyewitness Michael Billy Williams, who lives in the 1900 block of Marlboro Drive.

"I was sitting on my stoop and I had a clear shot," Williams said. "All of a sudden, I heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop and I looked over and everyone is converging from [building 1820 and the building across Arbor Lane]. I saw a guy go down [in front of building 1820] and it was just total chaos. Then all of a sudden you heard cars screeching and police rolling in - it was just nuts. There was one guy in a red Bulls jacket and he was throwing some slugs, then they all ran for the hills. When the cops got here, they went behind all the buildings [heavily armed]"

Williams said after the chaos stopped, he approached the victim on the ground.

"There was a guy on the ground and there were people with him that were screaming to everyone that was video taping. He was saying, 'stop videoing - he might be dead. I was not taping and I went as close as I could to him, got down on a knee and said a prayer for him.

"That is something I will never get out of my head. It was like a game of tag, but with bullets."
