Following the decision by the Chicago Irish parades, Plainfield has cancelled its parade set for this weekend.

A statement released said: "It is with an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our community, The Village Preservation Association, the sponsor of the Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade, with Village of Plainfield direction, has decided it is in the best interest of all concerned to cancel the 2020 parade.

"The VPA regrets any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused but appreciates the public’s support of this event and hopes to continue to have your support in the future. Please check back in the following days to get more information on refunds to be issued to interested parties."
