Health Dept. closely monitoring new Coronavirus

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is taking action to prevent the spread of respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus (named “2019-nCoV”) that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.

Travelers from Wuhan are being screened for illness at O’Hare Airport and other cities in the United States.The virus is NOT currently spreading in the United States.

There are ongoing investigations to learn more, and the Skokie Health Department is receiving daily updates. Information will be shared as it becomes available.

Based on what we know right now, the immediate health risk to Skokie residents is low. Please check these links for more information on 2019-nCoV, including the number of cases in the U.S. and the world:
