Dons, Tigers, Raiders, Redwings and Hawks all win on Friday Night Hoops

EAST SUBURBAN CATHOLIC CONFERENCE

Notre Dame 71 Marian Central Catholic 33

The top-ranked Dons (21-2, 5-0) made it 14 consecutive victories with the ESCC win at MCC (4-18, 0-5)

on Friday. The Dons started burying their shots soon after stepping off the bus after their 90-minute bus ride

to Woodstock. The Dons, jumped out to a commanding 24-12, after one quarter and 44-20 at the half.

The Dons' "D" held the Hurricanes to just 11 second half points on their way to their 14th consecutive victory.

Benet Academy 75 Carmel 53

The Redwings (15-5, 4-1) bounced back from their controversial loss to York by rolling past the Corsairs (11-10, 1-4) in Lisle. With the win,the Redwings remain one game behind the ESCC leaders, Notre Dame.

Starting slow again, the Redwings trailed the Corsairs 12-10 after one quarter. The Redwings opened up a 34-25 lead at halftime and never look back.


St. Patrick 60 Joliet Catholic 49

St Patrick (15-5, 4-1) remained one game behind Notre Dame in the ESCC with the win over the Hillltoppers (8-12. 0-5) in Joliet.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE CROSSOVER

Joliet West 59 West Aurora 54

The No. 2 ranked Tigers (19-3, 11-0 West) struggled on the road at West Aurora (6-14, 4-7 West) but escaped Aurora win the win. The Tigers increased their SPC East lead, to 2 1/2 games, over second-place

Romeoville (13-10, 8-2 East).

The Tigers opened up a 15-10 lead after one quarter and extended their lead to 34-25 at the half. The host Blackhawks' furious second-half rally pulled them within 48-46 with four minutes to go. The Tigers would open up a 52-46 lead with two minutes remaining and hold off the Blackhawks.

NONCONFERENCE

Bolingbrook 76 Bradley-Bourbonnais 39

The Raiders (17-4) took the long bus ride to Kankakee County and destroyed the host Boiliermakers (10-9) in Bradley.

CENTRAL SUBURBAN SOUTH

Maine South 62 Glenbrook North 38

The Hawks (13-9, 3-3) won for the sixth consecutive game with the win over the Spartans (4-14, 0-6). The Hawks opened up a 27-13 lead at the half extended the lead to 43-30 after three quarters and blew out the befuddled Spartans in the final quarter.

Junior Marko Anderson scored 14 points to lead the Hawks and hauled down six rebounds, while Nik Ostojic scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Senior Sean Gallery led the Hawks on the glass with nine boards. Senior Casey Clark chipped in with 13 points.

METRO SUBURBAN RED

Westmont 65 Guerin Prep 52

The Sentinels (8-13, 3-4) handed the Gators (0-21, 0-7) their 21st consecutive loss of the season in Westmont.

SOUTHWEST PRAIRIE CROSSOVERS

Plainfield Central 56 Minooka 47

The No. 7 Wildcats (12-8, 6-4 East) snapped their two-game, losing streak with the win at Minooka (2-18, 1-10).

Plainfield North 67 Plainfield South 56

The North Tigers (10-7, 7-4 West) won the rivalry game against the South Cougars (6-16,1-9 East) on the "North Side"

North grabbed a 10-6 lead after one quarter before the Cougars exploded for 20 second-quarter points to close to within 30-26 at the half.

The Tigers opened up a 47-36 lead after three quarters and cruised to win.

The Tigers were led by senior Billy Ellinghaus who scored a game-high 21 points. Carlos Conley scored 13 points and 6-foot-8 Colin O'Rourke just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Plainfield East 61 Yorkville 56 (2 OT)

It's been reported that the 2019-20 Plainfield East Bengal varsity hoops campaign has not been fun for Plainfield East head coach Mike Fowler and his staff. On Friday night his Bengals (5-19, 3-8 East) rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and defeated the host Foxes (9-12, 2-7 West) in double-overtime.

SOUTHWEST SUBURBAN BLUE

Lockport 42 Sandburg 39

The Porters (9-11, 1-1) evened up their SWSC Blue mark at 1-1 with the huge road win at Sandburg (9-10,1-1) in Orland Park.
