Pace announces public hearings on Proposed North Shore Service Changes

Last updated 1/20/2020 at 3:48pm

Pace will hold a series of six public hearings to solicit public input on Phase II of proposed service changes resulting from the North Shore Transit Service Coordination Plan and Market Analysis, a joint study completed in 2017 by Pace and CTA. The hearings will take place between January 30 and February 18 in Chicago, Glenview, Niles, Northbrook, Evanston and Wilmette.

The proposal includes streamlined routes, increased frequency on arterial roads, reduced waiting times, better connections to CTA L trains and an overall improvement to the public transportation network in North Cook County to better serve high demand travel markets in the area. The Plan was guided by a steering committee and project team focusing on demand, creating a stronger grid network, ridership growth, allocation of resources to a greater number of passengers, and serving new connections and markets.

The agency will present information on service changes including adjustments to five routes (215, 225, 226, 422 and 423), the addition of one new route (424), and the discontinuation of two routes (210 and 421). Any person wishing to comment is welcome to attend a public hearing. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to review project materials and submit comments online on the North Shore Coordination Plan page in the Projects & Studies section at PaceBus.com. Written comments may be submitted to Pace, External Relations, 550 West Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.

Individuals with disabilities who plan to attend these hearings and who require accommodations other than transportation, and individuals who require translation into a language other than English to allow them to observe and/or participate are requested to contact Pace at (847) 364-7223 option 3, five (5) business days prior to the scheduled hearing.
