DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that the second of two men who pled guilty to a Naperville armed robbery has been sentenced to sixteen years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). Robert Hill, 23 (d.o.b. 1/18/1999) of 738 Bluff Street, Carol Stream, appeared in Court today where Judge Liam Brennan handed down the sentence. Yesterday, Judge Brennan sentenced Hill’s codefendant, Willie Booker, 23 (d.o.b. 12/6/1996) of 2056 Essex Court, Streamwood, to eighteen years in the IDOC. Both men entered a plea of guilty to one count of Armed Robbery (Class X Felony) on September 24, 2019.

On October 15, 2017, Naperville Police officers responded to the Speedway gas station located at 631 N. Route 59 for the report of an Armed Robbery. Upon reviewing surveillance video and speaking with the victim, officers learned that three male subjects wearing masks and gloves entered the store. One of the subjects, later identified as Booker, pointed a black and silver gun at the victim, took the victim’s cell phone out of his pocket, then pointed the handgun at the victim’s back and demanded he open the register. Booker then got angry with the victim for “stalling” and hit the victim on the back of his head with the barrel of the gun. Booker then forced the clerk into a room at the back of the store and placed a nearby trash can against the outside of the closed door to trap the victim inside. All three subjects then fled prior to the arrival of police officers. An investigation into the robbery conducted by the Naperville Police Department led to Booker and Hill who were arrested on October 28, 2017. The third individual allegedly involved remains unknown.

“Less than twenty-four hours after his codefendant was sentenced to eighteen years behind bars, Mr. Hill learned that he will be going away for sixteen years for his role in this violent crime,” Berlin said. “Both of these men have certainly earned their sentences and Naperville is now a safer community with them off the streets. I would like to commend the Naperville and Carol Stream Police Departments for their work in this case. It is because of their efforts we were able to mount a strong prosecution against these defendants which led to their guilty pleas and significant sentences. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Claudia Fantauzzo and Heather Misura for their efforts in holding these men responsible for their actions.”
