Police allegedly saw a man carrying loaded gun on the street Nov. 17.

At 2:18 a.m. officers were in the 900 block of Gardner Street while a bar was closing when they observed Hubert C. Pruitte, 45, in a nearby parking lot. According to police reports, Pruitte had “a firearm in his hand.”

“As officers went to make contact with Pruitte, he ran into a nearby vehicle. Pruitte refused to exit the vehicle and officers had to pull (him) out,” police said.

Pruitte was taken into custody after a brief struggle and a loaded gun was recovered from the car, according to reports. Pruitte was also allegedly carrying crack cocaine and heroin when he was arrested.

Pruitte, of the 1000 block of Harrison Avenue, was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member, possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance.
