Perhaps it will be chilly. Perhaps it will be dark.

But you can enjoy the tree lighting Nov. 30 at Plainfield’s Village Green Park.

As part of the Chamber of Commerce’s Heart of Christmas event,

“Grinchmas on the Green” will be family time well spent.

It’s quite a fun time. It’s open to all.

There will be a visit from a green creature whose heart is two sizes too small.

The Park District’s Mascot Scout will also be there.

And jolly old Santa Claus should be wandering around somewhere.

Downtown events start at 4 p.m. and the park tree will be lit at 5.

Where you can park depends, of course, on what time you arrive.

There will be no Who Hash, nor any roast beast.

But free cookies and hot chocolate upon which to feast. (While supplies last)

The parks has many trees which area businesses and organizations

Have festively covered in holiday decorations.

Then at 5:30 having enjoyed the tree lighting and snacks

They’ll show a cartoon about the Grinch and his loyal dog, Max.

Downtown there are dance performances and rides on a hayrack

Picture frame making, face painting and letters telling Santa what to put in his sack.

At 6:45 p.m. inside Plymouth Congregational Church, carols will be sung

The creche lighting is outside the church at 7 p.m., so gather old and young.

And look around downtown Plainfield while we stand

Heart to heart...and hand in hand.
