Chicago 'Out of the Darkness Walk' to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention

The Illinois chapter of AFSP is hosting an 'Out of the Darkness Walk' on September 21, 2019 at

11:00 am, beginning and ending at Montrose Harbor in Chicago.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), suicide is the #1 leading

cause of death for people ages 10 to 44 in Illinois.

Chances are, you or someone you know has been impacted by suicide in some way. In fact,

suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US.

The American Foundation for Suicide Preventioni (AFSP) are the foremost experts for suicide

prevention; specifically research, education and advocacy.

The Illinois chapter of AFSP is hosting an 'Out of the Darkness Walk' on September 21, 2019 at

11:00 am, beginning and ending at Montrose Harbor in Chicago.

The walk is a safe place for survivors of suicide loss, attempt survivors and suicide prevention


supporters to come together to build community, share stories of hope and raise awareness

about this leading cause of death.

Last year, over 7,200 people walked in Chicago and over $1M was raised for suicide prevention

efforts and research. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is dedicated to saving

lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
