December 3 • Morton Grove

Movies, Munchies & More: Presentation: Winter Theater Guide for the Holidays and the New Year. 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Baxter Auditorium. Chicago theater critic and journalist Kris Vire (Chicago magazine, Chicago Sun-Times, New York Times) provides an overview of this winter's top holiday shows and some best bets for the New Year.

December 6 • Des Plaines

Des Plaines Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. 4-7 p.m. in downtown Des Plaines. Join Mayor Bogusz, Santa & his elves, Anna, Elsa, Olaf and hundreds of your friends and neighbors as we all light up the great holiday tree in Metropolitan Square. The festivities start at 4 p.m. when students and local organizations decorate their own holiday trees. Santa arrives at 4:30 p.m., and there’s great entertainment right up until we countdown and throw the giant switch at 6:30 p.m. to light up downtown Des Plaines.

December 6 • Skokie

Friday Night Public Skate - The Grinch Theme. 7-8:30 p.m. at the Skatium Ice Arena. Friday night public skate session. The Grinch theme tonight. Admission Fee: Children $5, Adults $6, Skate Rental $3. Please dress appropriately for the ice - hat and gloves are recommended.

December 7 • Skokie

Holiday Fair Extravaganza. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Weber Leisure Center Gymnasium. The Holiday Fair Extravaganza is Saturday, December 7, 2019. The cost to be a vendor/crafter is $40 by 10/24 and $50 after 10/24. You need to fill out an application in order to be a vendor/crafter. Applications will not be accepted after November 15. The event is free for everyone else. Please come out and support the community crafters.

December 7 • Niles

Breakfast with Santa. 8:30- 11:30 a.m. at the Howard Leisure Center. For children six months and up and adults.

Join Santa for his annual breakfast buffet with Niles Park District. Every year, Santa makes a stop at the Howard Leisure Center, to enjoy breakfast, visit, and take pictures with the children. It’s a jolly time. Register early, spaces fill up fast. All adults and children in attendance must register for this event. NO REFUNDS.

December 7 • Morton Grove

Holly Days Festival. 3 p.m. at 6140 Dempster St, Morton Grove, IL. Bringing our community together for a holiday tradition.

Presented by the Morton Grove Park District, the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce, the Morton Grove Days Commission, the Morton Grove Library, and the Village of Morton Grove.

Morton Grove kicks off the holiday season with a day of family activities.

IceLand Santa Skate. 2:30-4 p.m. at IceLand Skate. Join us and skate with Santa and his elves to Holiday songs.

Twas the Night Before Christmas. 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Niles-Maine District Library. Get in the spirit of the season by joining “living historian” Martina Mathisen for this delightful real-life story of the creation of the poem, “'Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Holiday Gingerbread House. 6-7 p.m. at the Howard Leisure Center. There is no better way to bring in the holiday season than to create your very own gingerbread house. Candy cane lanes, gum drop roofs and frosting snowdrifts will be part of our creation in this fantastic holiday workshop. Join us at Niles Park District for a pizza dinner, hot cocoa, desserts, music and some decorating fun. Registration deadline is December 9. All participants must register.

December 13 • Skokie

DIY Holiday Gifts. 4-6 p.m. at the Skokie Public Library. Enjoy the best parts of the winter season: a cozy atmosphere, warm beverages, and the spirit of giving. You'll leave with new skills and handmade gifts to share.

December 14 • Skokie

Breakfast with Santa. 9:30-11 a.m. at the Oakton Community Center. Santa is coming to the Skokie Park District. Please join us for a delicious pancake breakfast, entertainment and crafts. Santa will be on hand to take pictures with you and your family. This event is for all ages. All adults and children must pre-register for this event. Fee is per person. December 14 • Park Ridge

Breakfast with Santa. 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Maine Park Leisure Center. Join us at Maine Park for a great breakfast buffet. Choose from three seating’s. Children can talk with Santa and have a professional photo taken. Before or after breakfast enjoy holiday shopping at our Candy Cane Lane Shoppe. Fee is per person and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone attending must be registered. Registration deadline: December 10.

December 14 • Skokie

Saturday Afternoon Public Session - Skate with Santa. 2:10-3:40 p.m. at the Skatium Ice Arena. Skate with Santa Saturday afternoon public skate session. Admission Fee: Children $5, Adults $6, Skate Rental $3. Please dress appropriately for the ice - hat and gloves are highly recommended.

December 15 • Park Ridge

Swim with Santa. 2-3:30 p.m. at the Centennial Activity Center. Santa is spending an afternoon at the Fitness Center Pool relaxing before his big day. Join us to swim, sing holiday songs, and play reindeer games. Don’t miss your last chance to tell Santa what good girls and boys you have been all year

December 15 • Park Ridge

Skate with Santa. 1 p.m. at the Oakton Ice Arena. Join the Park Ridge Park District at Oakton Ice Arena to skate with Santa and his elves. Complimentary candy canes for all kids who attend. All skaters will be entered into a drawing to win two tickets to a Chicago Wolves hockey game. We encourage all to stay and watch some of Oakton’s finest skaters perform in our Holiday Exhibition following Public Skate, from 4:40-8:00 p.m.
