Park Ridge police have identified a suspect in three residential burglaries committed Jan. 5, Jan. 27 and Feb. 3.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved three counts of felony residential burglary charges Feb. 24 for Lorenzo Chavez, 19, from the 1900 block of Springfield, Chicago.
None of the items taken in the burglaries have been recovered, according to Park Ridge Police Commander Lou Jogmen.
Police did find papers from pawn shops, he said, but were unable to locate the valuables at those shops. The suspect may have also taken the items to other pawn shops in the greater Chicago area, Jogmen said.
Park Ridge police worked closely with Skokie police on the case, Jogmen said. Skokie had a pattern of residential burglaries and identified a suspect.
“We typically try to work with other area departments,” said Jogmen, who said Park Ridge police determined the Skokie suspect was the same person they were looking for.
Chavez has a court date for his arrest in the Skokie case. Park Ridge police have a warrant for him but have not yet technically charged him. They will do so on the day of his court appearance in the Skokie case, Jogmen said.
“Having your home burglarized is extremely traumatic," said Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski. "This arrest demonstrates the commitment our officers have to restoring the victims’ peace of mind. It also shows others who may consider committing similar acts that this department will relentlessly pursue them and will do everything in our power to be successful in bringing them to justice.”
